Feeling appreciated is the biggest gift a mom could ever get. One does not completely understand what their parents did for them until they too become a parent them self. Just when I think I understand everything my mom did for me, I learn even more things as my kids become adults.

Handmade & Thoughtful Suggestions for Mom
Moms love something handmade or thoughtful. Don’t spend money on a greeting card, make one on a sheet of plain or construction paper. Draw a picture or trace your hand. Oh, the hand prints! Moms probably cannot count how many times they cleaned windows, furniture, and walls to wipe the hand prints off. Years later, she more than likely wishes there was at least one left. A card with your hand or foot traced would be a treasure! Priceless!
Write a note letting them know something special about your relationship. It can be at any age, from growing up as kids to young adults.
Flowers are a good choice too, but they don’t have to be from a florist. They can be from the grocery store or the yard. It is the thought that counts so it does not need to be a dozen roses.
Bake their favorite dessert, cook dinner or help with it. This would be very appreciated.
There are always some special projects that need to be done around the house. It could be spring cleaning, organizing pictures, painting, weeding the garden, and many other items. Give her a hand with these things.
It is not the price of the gift, but truly the thought that counts.
Having said all this (and it is still true), some people still really want to get their mom a gift.
Consider a Mother/Daughter day or Mother/Son day. For a Mother/Daughter day, getting their nails done and lunch make great memories. For a Mother/Son event, consider dinner and a movie. Each relationship will bring new ideas on how to spend it together.
Game time as a family is another option.
Other Gift Options
Other items that tell Mom how much they mean would be something to pamper themselves like lotion, a book, perfume, a coffee shop gift card, or something they enjoy as a hobby.
While the role of a parent changes as their kids get older, parents still love to hear from their kids.
Time is the best gift to give your Mom.
If I could choose between a $10,000 gift and a special gift from my kids that was handmade and time with them, I would choose the time with them and handmade gift every time.
Celebrate Mom by letting her know how much she has influenced your life, how much you appreciate her, or some other special things. It is the little things that mean more like a hand written note instead of an expensive gift.
