1. Places to Shop
Perhaps, you can borrow somethings like decorations. You may also be able to repurpose things. Check out garage sales or thrift stores, to get good deals.
There are always sales to watch out for too. Amazon actually has many wedding items, including dresses, at everyday lower prices.
Another great place to pick up inexpensive decorations is from those who just had a wedding. Chances are they are looking to get rid of some of theirs and will sell it much cheaper than buying everything yourself.
It generally is more fun putting decorations up instead of taking them down after an event. Remember that you may not be available to help take things down. Another big thing to consider is the time you have before and after the wedding as well as the number of people available to assist.
The white Christmas lights will help transform a regular room into a reception area. Vases from a dollar store with flowers or greenery make nice table decorations too. Vases can be plain or decorated with glitter, burlap, lace, or ribbon.
These flowers make great arrangements for table decorations. Add these to a cute vase with additional greenery. These can be used for the rehearsal dinner and the reception.
Inexpensive flowers like baby’s breath make cute decorations as well.
One of the decorations that I love to see is pictures of the bride and groom on the various tables in the reception area. It can include pictures of them when they were dating as well as the various stages of when they grew up. They can be in frames or just laying flat on the tables. Use a combination of frames and pictures laying flat on the tables for a variation.
Burlap or lace on the tables makes a nice contrast to the tablecloths.
Have the bridesmaids put their flower bouquets on the bride’s cake table at the reception. The cost of the bridal bouquets would then serve two purposes.
3. Guest Book, Pen, Flower Girl Basket & Ring Bearer Pillow
Before you spend money on a guest book, decide if that is what you want. There are some other options that can be done to have your guests sign. Some of these items can be a picture later. Another option is to ask guests to sign and write words of wisdom for the bride and groom on note cards and put in a decorative jar.
You could also get a basket from a dollar store. Other options than a pillow for the wedding rings, can be items like a small box. Look for these types of boxes at craft stores. The ring box could also serve as a cute memory item after the wedding for your house. You could put little trinkets in or use just as a decoration.
This is a great package of items for a budget wedding. It includes 1 wedding guest book with a pen, a flower girl basket, and a ring bearer pillow. You can pick up inexpensive flower pedals at the dollar stores for the flower girl basket.
4. Photo Booth Props
This has been a big trend in Louisiana for the last few years. The nice thing about the photo booths is that you instantly get the pictures within in few minutes. If you do this yourself, you may need to text or email the pictures to the guest.
If someone has a polaroid type camera, that could be used to give the picture to your guests immediately. These types of cameras have the pictures come out and within so many minutes you can see the pictures. When deciding on what works best for you, also consider the cost of the film. I’ve been to places that have the backdrop and props. You just take your own pictures with your camera phone. Just be sure to test what it looks like as you may need to include extra lighting in that area.
If you want to have a photo booth at a lower cost, consider these props. Perhaps, you have a friend that can take pictures for you.
5. Cake Topper
This cake topper is a great value. It can also be used for anniversaries later. It is a great simple and elegant addition to the cake.
You may decide not to put a cake topper on the cake which is fine too. There are various types of cake toppers from a wedding couple, initial of married last name, hearts, rings, Mr. and Mrs. saying, love birds, their names, just married, always and forever, butterfly, to the word love.
6. Wedding Party Gifts
These key chains make a great wedding party gift as well. It is something that can be used and is not expensive. You can get their names on it.
This frame would be a very reasonable gift for the wedding party. Take a picture of the group of friends to include with the frame. These make great wedding keepsakes.
7. Bride & Bridesmaid Robes
For the bride and bridesmaids that want to all wear matching robes to get ready and for pictures, these make this option reasonably priced.
8. Wedding Rings and Bands
If money is tight, expensive engagement rings and wedding bands don’t need to be bought. You can buy this later when money is available. The main purpose of these is to be a symbol of your love for each other. There are also ring price options between the really expensive and the less expensive ones. There are many different shapes, qualities, and sizes of diamonds. Generally, the larger the diamond, the more expensive as compared to smaller ones. And there are multiple other items to consider such as the cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. Another option is cubic zirconia, which is much more affordable than diamonds.
Check out this great alternative for much less expensive wedding bands.
9. Bridal Wear
There is a huge price range for wedding dresses. Some are extremely expensive, but there are also some reasonably priced options if you really look around. A lot will depend on what you’ve dreamed your wedding dress will look like. One of the hidden costs with the dress will be alterations, so keep that in mind when deciding. I was fortunate that I was able to get mine at a bridal shop in sale.
This rhinestone wedding belt makes a great addition to a simple dress. It really can add to a simple and elegant outfit. My wedding dress was plain so we added beads to it. I wish I would have known about these decorative belts to add instant bling. It certainly would have saved time – it was very time consuming to sew more beads! I do have good memories of sewing the extra bling on the dress and we did save money.
Check out these options and just know what is available when you’re shopping for that perfect wedding dress!
These artificial flowers make a beautiful bride’s bouquet. Multiple bridesmaid’s bouquets can be made with one bunch of these flowers. Add some fabric of some sort and a ribbon to put the finishing touch on them. They can also be put in a vase. What a great way to view your wedding bouquet after the big day!
